Lassen National Forest is opening additional developed facilities and sites to increase recreational opportunities for the public.
The LNF is implementing a Forest Order to provide for the health and safety of the public and employees by keeping developed recreation sites, except those listed below, which are closed through November 11th, 2020. This closure may be terminated or extended as conditions warrant.
Developed recreation sites (campgrounds, picnic areas, day-use sites, etc.), many of which draw large numbers of people and require significant management oversight during high-use conditions, will remain closed in an effort to protect the public and employees from the potential risk of coronavirus exposure.
“We continue to evaluate and prepare to open additional developed sites for the season while ensuring the safety and well-being of the public, employees, partners, and volunteers,” said LNF Forest Supervisor Deb Bumpus.
“We suggest that visitors follow CDC guidance on masks and social distancing. Avoid crowded areas and try to stick to the more out of the way spots instead of popular areas.”
The LNF encourages visitors to recreate locally whenever possible. Forest visitors should practice self-sufficiency when visiting all National Forests and come prepared with all the essentials needed for your trip, including food, emergency supplies, and the ability to pack-out trash.
Remember to recreate responsibly by keeping the following in mind:
Maintaining at least six feet distancing from others.
Do not gather in groups other than those in your household, and please follow the latest guidance from officials. • Communicate with others as you pass. Alert trail users of your presence and step aside to let others pass by.
Pack out your trash and leave with everything you bring in and use.
Bring hand sanitizer or handwashing supplies.
Some services may not be available, so please plan accordingly.
