Jones Retires as City Administrator, Will Resume Full-Time Police Chief Position

Susanville City Administrator Kevin Jones has resigned from his current position as the city’s top official and is returning to his full-time job as the Chief of Police, according to a statement released Tuesday afternoon. Jones was hired as Police Chief in November of 2018 and assumed City Administrator duties last spring.

“My decision to step away as the Administrator has been in the works for a period of time,” explained Jones in the statement.

He began working as Interim Administrator in May of 2020 and was appointed the full-time Administrator on September 1st, 2020.

“The immediate issues faced by the City with the advent of COVID were very challenging. However, I leave this position proud of the many accomplishments we completed as a team over the last 10 months. It was a very educational and rewarding experience that I won’t forget.”

Jones thanked all of the city employees for their hard work and support of his role as Administrator, saying, “It was a joy.”

“I proudly return to my full-time role as the Chief of Police after today, where I work with an equally special group of people.”
