Cal-FIRE’s Lassen Modoc Unit is letting area residents know that smoke over Honey Lake this week is coming from a planned agricultural burn, which will continue through next week.
Cal-FIRE is assisting the California Department of Fish and Wildlife with the project, which is located at the Honey Lake Wildlife Refuge in the Wendel area.
The planned project will continue throughout the next two weeks, as conditions allow, and will reduce approximately 1,100 acres of flammable fuels while improving natural habitat.
Supporting agencies will include Standish Volunteer Fire Department.
Smoke may be visible in the Honey Lake Valley area for several days and fire officials ask that you do not report the fire.
