Best of Broadway Fundraiser Hopes to Keep Annual Performances Alive

It has been a tough year for Susanville’s Best of Broadway folks. Exactly one year ago the group was preparing for their annual performance series at the Veteran’s Hall when COVID-19 pulled the rug out from under them. Twelve months later it is still impossible to perform, so instead the group is looking forward to 2022, and working to raise funds to make sure that happens.

Each year nearly 200 aspiring local actors and actresses perform in the production which enjoys an average annual attendance of over 1,400 community members, making it the largest performing arts program in Lassen County. Best of Broadway operates on a volunteer basis and provides cast and crew members the opportunity to learn every aspect of theater production including singing, dancing, drama, stage lighting, sound engineering, back stage management, props and stage makeup.

For two seasons now the Veterans Memorial Hall has been dark, which means a loss of revenue for the organization. To help make sure that there are future performances the Broadway folks will be partnering with local apparel designer Naomi Crosby at CrossFreedom for a fundraiser taking place until March 15th.

Crosby has designed something for everyone with a large variety of apparel, bags, mugs, totes and other cool stuff featuring a neat, “The Show Must Go On” design.
