What a difference two hours made for Lassen Family Services’ Closet and Food Shelf last Thursday! In just that short amount of time Susanville residents came together and contributed nearly $2,000 in cash and food at the ‘Cram the Cruiser’ event sponsored by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol.

“We received $595 in cash donations and another $1,000.00+ in non perishable and other items for our food pantry,” said LFS Direct Service Supervisor Heather Roney. “It was a huge success and I was speechless after the event. Our community has a heart of gold and I’m in awe at the charitable spirit this community has when it comes to helping those in need.”

Roney thanked the CHP and Officer Wilburn, Todd Eid and the IGA Supermarket staff, Great Basin 4-H club, the public and the event’s advertisers.

“It is because of all of you that we are able to help others in need,” said Roney.

“The generosity of this town is amazing,” remarked CHP Public Information Officer Kristen Willburn, “and the Susanville CHP office is just happy to have been able to contribute to such a worthwhile effort.”

“Lassen Family Services Closet and Food Shelf are for everyone in need in our community,” said Roney. “No questions asked, you just make an appointment and we try to accommodate the needs of the family and or individual. You do not have to be a victim of Domestic Violence or Sexual Assault to use our food pantry or clothing closet.”

Contact for the clothing closet is Laura Kimball at 257-4599 – Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. 1306 Riverside Drive.
