More than thirty people of all ages participated in the Susan River Trail Cleanup last Saturday, a collaborative effort between the City of Susanville and Lassen Land and Trails Trust.
In a written statement, Lassen Land and Trails Trust Vice President Liz Norton, said, “The Susan River is a gem in our community. Now it really sparkles thanks to the City, and all our sponsors and volunteers who cleaned up 42 cubic yards of trash along the river. That’s impressive!”
The event was held on Celebrate Trails Day, an annual event started by the Rails to Trails Conservancy to celebrate America’s Trails.
Local businesses also contributed to the event’s success. C & S Waste Solutions donated two roll off bins; Susanville IGA provided snacks and water; and staff from the City Public Works Department drove backhoes along the trail to collect the accumulated trash the volunteers removed.
