BLM Eagle Lake Field Office Now Issuing Firewood Cutting Permits

The Bureau of Land Management Eagle Lake Field Office has resumed issuing firewood cutting permits for BLM-managed public lands in Lassen County. Permits will be issued by mail while the office lobby remains temporarily restricted to public access.

Wood cutters can purchase permits by calling the Eagle Lake Field Office, 530-257-0456. The BLM will accept payment by credit card or debit card, and will mail the permit to the requester, who must sign the document and carry it when cutting wood.

Permits for soft woods such as juniper and pine are $6 per cord, with a minimum purchase of two cords and a maximum of 10 cords per year, per family. Permits for hardwoods such as oak and mountain mahogany are $12 per cord, with a maximum of three cords per family, per year.

The BLM will provide maps of wood cutting areas and other important information in a packet accompanying the wood cutting permits.

The BLM will resume selling permits at the office, 2550 Riverside Dr., Susanville, at a date to be announced later this year.
