Travelers along U. S. Highway 395 north of Susanville and residents of the Ravendale area can expect to see smoke today, March 16th, when Bureau of Land Management fire crews complete a pile burning project near Round Valley Reservoir.
The Rodeo Flat project will cover about 450-acres along Lassen County Road 526, where brush and small juniper trees have been cut and piled in projects to improve conditions for wildlife and livestock, and to potentially reduce the severity of wildfires.
Burning crews will adhere to a burn plan that specifies allowable fuel moisture and weather conditions and required personnel and equipment. Piles will be ignited only when conditions allow for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersion.
Crews will patrol the area after burning.
