Cal Fire’s Lassen Modoc Plumas unit said goodbye this week to Chief Jeff Young who retired on June 30th after serving more than 30 years with the state agency.
Chief Young began his career with Cal Fire in 1983 as a Firefighter I at the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit. He worked as an Administrative Assistant and limited term Fire Apparatus Engineer from 1986-1987 before attaining a permanent FAE appointment in 1988, at the Fresno-Kings Unit.
During his year’s with Cal Fire Chief Young worked in a variety of assignments at state and local government fire stations, the conservation camp, inmate and unit training programs and the Cal Fire Academy.
For the past ten years Chief Young was a part of Cal Fire’s Incident Management Teams.
“Would like to thank Jeff for his years of service and dedication to our community and wish him well in retirement,” said Lassen County’s Emergency Services Chief Eric Ewing.
Until a new unit chief is selected by Cal Fire former Lassen OES boss Dave Junette will assume the roles of unit chief, Lassen County fire warden and Lassen County OES Coordinator.
