David Alson Newman David (Dave) Alson Newman passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. David was born at his grandmother’s home in Reno, NV on January 24, 1941. David grew up in Susanville, CA.  After graduating from Lassen High School, he went on to obtain a degree in Engineering. In 1965 David started his engineering career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service Department, where he worked on many of the roads and trails people still use today.  He retired after 33 years in 1998. Harold Laughlin  Harold Laughlin, age 82, of Doyle, California entered eternal rest April 17, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, Nevada. Harold was born in Richfield, Minnesota on October 2, 1934 to Austin and Ada Laughlin, but grew up in Lake Preston, South Dakota. Harold left Lake Preston at the age of 17 to join the Navy.
