The Chamber board will meet on Thursday, May 10th for the monthly board meeting beginning at noon, at Diamond Mountain Casino, in the hotel Conference Room.
The board encourages member attendance and comment; if you would like to address the board please contact the office staff prior to the board meeting so that you can be added to the agenda.
The April board meeting agenda included a discussion about the Susanville billboard located on Hwy. 395 which sustained major damage during the March windstorms. Estimates for repairing the billboard were between $6000.00 and $7500.00. The billboard was built around 1975 so most of the wood, including the poles, are old and in need of replacing. The property owner was contacted and they were not interested in repairing the billboard. After much discussion it was voted to demolish the billboard.
Mark your calendar for the Thursday, May 17th Chamber Mixer that will be co-hosted by Tum-a-Lum Lumber Company and Tri County Bank, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The mixer will be held at Tum-a-Lum Lumber located at 702-000 Johnstonville Rd., Susanville. Food and no-host bar will be available. You do not need to be a Chamber member to attend; everyone is welcomed to stop by to mingle with friends and business associates and we encourage you to bring a friend. We hope to see you there!
Chamber members should be looking in the mail in the next few weeks for their invitation to attend a Chamber members only grand opening celebration at Lassen Ale work at the Pioneer. Chamber members will be invited to attend an exclusive event and be the first to welcome the new owners to the business community, see all the changes and upgrades, and taste the ale made at the brewery. Members will need to bring their postcard invitation to attend the event. We hope all Chamber members will plan on attending and joining in the celebration.
The Chamber will be running the 2012 Fair’s beer concession. This will be a major fundraising event for the Chamber. If you are willing to volunteer contact the Chamber office, 257-4323 or sign-up to volunteer at any Chamber mixer. We are reaching out to the community and the chamber membership, whether you can volunteer for a few hours, a day or various times throughout the week, we need your help. The dates for the 2012 Fair are July 18th thru the 22nd.
