A Susanville man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol Tuesday morning after he drove through road-closure cones at the north end of Bass Hill road construction on Highway 395.

According to a report from the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, an officer working within the active construction zone was alerted by a Caltrans employee that a truck had driven through the closure.

The officer obtained a vehicle description and located the 2010 Dodge on Wingfield Road .

During an enforcement stop of the vehicle the officer noticed that the driver exhibited several outward signs of intoxication.

“A DUI investigation was conducted,” explains CHP Public Information Officer Kristin Wilburn, “and the driver was subsequently arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol.”

According to the CHP report the driver’s blood alcohol level was measured at more than twice the legal limit.

“The California Highway Patrol would like to remind drivers that it is illegal to drive while under the influence of alcohol,” said Wilburn.
