CHP Incident: Minor Injuries for Driver and Passenger After Colliding with Tree

A Stockton, California woman and her passenger received minor injuries June 18th after the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving left a dirt road near Highway 44 and collided with a large tree.

According to the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol the driver, identified as 20-year old Bertha Sanchez and her passenger, 35-year old Susanville resident Juan Rubio, were driving on Forest Road 32NO8, about 4 miles north of Highway 44, at an, “unsafe speed for the dirt roadway conditions.”

Sanchez lost control of the Jeep after a deer ran across the road in front of her and slid off the west side of the road, striking the tree.

The vehicle bounced off of the tree and then rolled, coming to a rest on its roof and blocking the roadway.

Both occupants were treated at the scene by Semsa and then transferred to Banner Lassen Medical Center for further evaluation.
