CHP Incident: Nevada Man Arrested on DUI and Drug Charges After Highway 139 Traffic Stop

A Henderson, Nevada man was arrested late Thursday night after officers from the California Highway Patrol pulled him over on Highway 139 just north of Susanville and discovered a large amount of methamphetamine along with ziploc bags, scales and drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with driving under the influence.

According to details released by the Susanville CHP office, shortly before 10:00p.m., an officer observed a green Chevrolet Impala with no license plate on the rear of the vehicle traveling westbound on Skyline approaching 139.

When the driver turned right onto the highway he made an unsafe turning movement, taking the turn much too wide and crossing over the double parallel solid yellow lines that separate the northbound and southbound lanes.

A traffic stop was made and the officer contacted the driver, who was later identified by the CHP as 50-year old Frank Kenyon.

While speaking with the Kenyon the officer observed that the driver exhibited signs and symptoms of drug intoxication. The officer advised Kenyon to exit the vehicle and then conducted a series of field sobriety tests. The man was arrested for driving under the influence.

While conducting an inventory of the Chevrolet prior to its impound by Susanville Towing, officers discovered a large amount of methamphetamine within the vehicle. Officers also discovered numerous small ziploc bags, two digital scales and drug paraphernalia.
