A Susanville man received minor injuries Thursday morning, September 10th, when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree along Highway 44 west of Susanville.

The driver, identified by Susanville Office of the California Highway Patrol as Donald Woodward, was driving westbound at about 10:30a.m. in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado at approximately 65mph, when, according to the CHP report, he allowed his vehicle to drift to the right and onto the right shoulder.

Upon realizing he was driving on the dirt shoulder, he turned sharply to the left.

This turning movement caused him to lose control of his vehicle and skid across the eastbound lane and down an embankment before coming to rest against a large cedar tree.

Woodward was able to self-extricate himself from his vehicle and, despite the Silverado’s complete destruction, suffered only minor injuries as a result of the collision.
