Three people were injured July 18th, when the two motorcycles they were riding collided just south of the Termo Grasshopper Road on Highway 139 north of Susanville. A fourth person, the driver of one of the motorcycles, was uninjured.
Shortly before 5:00p.m., according to the report from the California Highway Patrol, 52-year old Standish resident Richard Preheim was driving a 2004 Yamaha Road Star motorcycle with his passenger, 41-year old Joanna Smith, northbound on the highway at a stated speed of 55 mph.
53-year old Susanville resident Michael Fuller was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson, with his passenger, 51-year old Melissa Fuller, northbound in front of the first motorcycle.
For unknown reasons Preheim allowed the the front of his motorcycle to collide with the rear of the Harley Davidson.
The collision caused both motorcycles to overturn and all riders were ejected. Preheim suffered moderate injuries and his passenger was flown to Mercy Medical in Redding with major injuries.
Fuller was uninjured and his passenger suffered only minor injuries.
