Lassen County Health and Social Services Department has announced that as of 5:00p.m., yesterday the Dixie Fire evacuee shelter at Lassen College will be closed.
“Many of the mandatory evacuations have been lifted allowing shelter residents to return home safely,” the county explained in a brief statement yesterday. “Therefore, we are proud to announce that Lassen County HSS has decided to close the shelter… due to reduced occupancy.”
“At this time, Lassen County would like to thank Lassen Community College for their generosity and hospitality. This shelter was the largest shelter operated by Lassen County. We could not have made it possible without our amazing staff and partner agencies, who have worked continuously for more than 40 days providing shelter staffing, medical assistance, hot meals, and other comforts to the evacuees.”
