COVID-19 Update: Impacted California Workers Have New Resources to Rely On

As of 6:00p.m. Saturday the Lassen County Office of Emergency Services is reporting that Lassen county is still free of known COVID-19 cases.

So far 113 people in the county have been tested with 108 negative results and 5 tests pending.

During the COVID-19 pandemic many local residents are experiencing financial hardship. California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced new initiatives to support California workers who have been impacted by the crisis.

The Governor has announced disaster relief assistance for working Californians For individuals that have been lost their jobs or wages.

Newsom’s orders serve to ensure sufficient staffing to process unemployment benefits and create a call center with the Employment Development Department that is in operation 7 days a week from 8:00a.m. to 8:00p.m.; streamlines the application process for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance to ensure timely assistance and works to provide efficient electronic means to expedite access to the Work Share program for lay-off aversion.
