It’s that time of year. The holidays are over. Winter doldrums are creeping in. We want to go outside and play. Whatever to do? Join Lassen Land and Trails Trust on Saturday, January 25th, and treat that cabin fever!
Start the day out with a spectacular cross-country ski outing to Butte Lake, led by Phil Finkel. This 13-mile round trip is for the tried and true cross-country skier.
Lassen Land and Trails Trust asks that participants pre-register by calling (530) 257-3252, dress appropriately and bring water, snacks and lunch. Outdoor adventurers will meet at the historic Susanville railroad depot, 601 Richmond Road, at 8:30a.m.
If that’s more than you bargained for, then maybe a short snowshoe hike will fit the bill! Led by Mike Rivas, the snowshoe hike will depart from the historic Susanville railroad depot at 1:00p.m., and Lassen Land and Trails Trust has snowshoes to lend. Please pre-register, dress appropriately and bring water and snacks.
What to do if there’s no snow? Well then let’s go for a hike! Hikers will gather at the historic Susanville railroad depot at 1:00p.m.
Everyone will head back to the depot on Richmond Road at 5:00 p.m. for an array of hot, homemade soups, breads and cookies.
The ski trip and snowshoe hike are free, the soup dinner is for a$10 donation per person and a $5 donation for children 12 and under. While filling up on great soups, enjoy a no-host bar and silent auction with some really neat outdoor items and packages.
Lassen Land and Trails Trust is a non-profit member supported organization that actively works to conserve significant natural areas and working landscapes and to promote and enhance a system of leading public trails in northeastern California — where the Sierra Nevada, Cascade, Modoc Plateau and the Great Basin converge, a unique region rich in agricultural heritage, wildlife and scenic vistas.
