Lassen Community College has announced that, because of dangerously dry conditions, fireworks will not be allowed on campus this year for the 4th of July.
The campus is a favorite destination of locals who set off fire works in the college’s parking lots while they enjoy a great view of the fireworks at the fairgrounds.
This year, however, the hot, dry conditions and high fire danger have made it necessary to prohibit the Independence Day activities.
“We will not be allowing firework activity in our parking lots or surrounding areas,” said LCC Public Information Officer Julie Johnston.
