A fire in the attic of a residence on Richmond Road early Thursday morning did minor damage to the home and displaced the residents according to details released by the Susanville Fire Department.
Shortly before 3:30a.m. on December 19th, firefighters were dispatched to 725 Richmond Road for a report of an attic fire. The Susanville Fire Department Volunteers were also dispatched along with automatic aid from CalFire, and Susan River Fire Protection District.
Air-1 from Janesville fire Protection District was requested.
“First arriving units reported flames showing from the residence on the south side of the residence,” explained Susanville Fire Captain Tom Hernandez.
Firefighters performed an aggressive attack and contained the fire to the attic.
According to Hernandez the interior of the house sustained minor smoke damage and some water damage. The cause of the fire was determined to be overloaded electrical circuits.
The occupants were displaced due to the fire and the Red Cross was requested to aid in temporarily relocating the occupants.
Additional assisting agencies were CalFire C-2211, Susanville Public Works, LMUD and the Susanville Police Department.
