Fire Department Releases Details of Lassen Ale Works Fire

The Susanville City Fire Department has released details regarding the fire that broke out Tuesday evening at 724 Main Street in Susanville, damaging both the Lassen Ale Works and an apartment in the upstairs portion of the building.

According to Fire Captain Tom Hernandez the department, along with automatic aid from the Susan River Fire Protection District and mutual aid from the Janesville Fire District and the Standish Fire District, responded to a structure fire at around 5:29 pm in the historic Pioneer Saloon building.

On arrival of the first-in engine company, smoke was seen coming from the roof as well as from the interior of the business.

“Firefighters performed an aggressive fire attack,” according to Hernandez, “Containment of the fire was at approximately 8:30pm.”

Salvage and overhaul operations were also performed by the department.

The second story of the building contains 4 apartments,  one of which sustained moderate damage to the contents.

The occupants, restaurant staff and patrons escaped uninjured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Agencies also assisting in the incident were Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff, LMUD, CHP, City of Susanville Public Works, Red Cross, and Lassen County OES.
