Crews from the Susanville Fire Department quickly extinguished a human-caused vegetation fire that was reported burning along the Susan River near the Riverside Drive bridge early Tuesday morning.
“Upon arrival at the scene firefighters acted swiftly to contain the fire and thanks to their coordinated efforts, the fire was brought under control and extinguished quickly,” explains SFD Fire Captain Leon Myers.
According to Myers the fire is believed to have started in one of the encampments along the river, and is currently under investigation.
The SFD thanked Cal-FIRE, CDCR Fire Department, Janesville Fire Protection District, Susanville Police Department, Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and LMUD for their quick response to the incident.
