Firefighters Quickly Extinguish Small Human-Caused Vegetation Fire Near Riverside Drive

The Susanville Fire Department made quick work of a vegetation fire that started in a transient encampment along the Susan River Thursday evening.

At around 7:00p.m., the fire department Engine 621 responded to the area behind 1625 Riverside Drive for a smoke check, arriving to find a 20×30′ vegetation fire.

E621 requested additional resources and were joined by CAL FIRE, Susan River Fire Protection District and the Susanville Police Department at the scene.

Crews extinguished the fire, which was determined to be human caused, at approximately at around 7:30.

According to SFD Engineer Kalvn McFarland there were 3-fire engines, 10-firefighters and 1 chief officer who responded to this incident. There were no fire service or civilian injuries.
