It was a group of brave and hearty souls who showed up at Canyon Dam on New Year’s Day to take part in the first ever Lassen County Polar Bear Plunge.
Gary Felt from Sunrise Rotary was one of the folks who jumped in the frigid Lake Almanor water. Felt said, “Water temperature was a refreshing 37 degrees with air temperature in the fourties. Beautiful sunny day for a dip!”
Event organizers were forced to travel slightly outside of Lassen County to find water that was deep enough to swim, but not frozen over.
Thanks to Sunrise Rotary for the great pictures!
