Four South County Residents Injured in Monday Evening Collision

chpA collision between two vehicles on County Road A-25, at the intersection of County Road A-26, sent four Lassen county residents to Renown Medical Center Monday evening with minor and moderate injuries.

Around 6:45p.m., according to details released Tuesday by the CHP, Doyle resident Sharon Caffey was driving her 2014 Chevrolet Equinox into the left turn lane of A-25, in preparation for a left turn onto A-26.

At the same time Herlong resident Darbie Swift was driving a 1991 Nissan Maxima east on A-25 approaching the intersection when, for unknown reasons, Caffey’s vehicle turned left into the path of the Nissan.

The front of the Chevrolet collided with the left front of the Nissan and both vehicles came to rest facing east in the intersection.

Caffey and her juvenile passenger were transported with minor injuries. Swift and Herlong resident David Silva were taken to Renown with moderate injuries. A passenger in the Nissan was uninjured.

The collision is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
