Golden One Launches Sixth Annual Northern California Food Drive

Golden 1 Credit Union announced Friday that it has launched its sixth annual Food Bank Donation Program providing food to families and individuals in need across northern and central California. During September, in support of Hunger Action Month, Golden 1 donated $52,500 to food banks who help Californians in need of food.

Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign to bring awareness and support to food banks at a time of year when food donations often decline.

The donation supports 21 food banks in counties across California including Sacramento, Alameda, Amador, Butte, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Fresno, Lassen, Los Angeles, Monterey, Napa, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, Santa Clara, Shasta, Solano, and Yolo as they prepare for the holiday season and the increase in need.

The funds will provide more than 500,000 meals to local food banks throughout California including Shasta Senior Nutrition Program, Community Action Agency of Butte County and Lassen County – Modoc Food Bank.

“Golden 1 is proud to support our local communities through our annual tradition of giving to California food banks,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. “Golden 1 continues to expand our donations to more counties to provide much-needed food assistance to the hungry.”

Since the Food Banks Donation Program began in 2011, Golden 1 has donated more than $300,000 to California food banks that provide food to families and individuals in need.
