A Birthday Note from Jeremy and Marshel
It’s SusanvilleStuff’s Birthday! Today we celebrate 8 years of pictures, stories and news on our little slice of the internet.
I’m sure you have noticed the recent changes around the website and we are very proud of what we have accomplished. We have worked for months on end with one goal in mind; to offer a world class website that was just for Susanville.
In the beginning
The idea for SusanvilleStuff came about in July of 2003 when we were just beginning to market ourselves as web designers. We took a bunch of pictures of the Lassen County Fair Parade, but had nowhere to put them.
We settled on a page at JeremyCouso.com (you can check that out here) but started working on a site that everybody could visit and see our town. On September 22nd, 2003 we registered the domain name and SusanvilleStuff was born.
A Crossroads
This year we reached a vital crossroads. SusanvilleStuff had grown antiquated and outdated. Technology had passed us by and we decided it was either going to be taken down, or we would make a commitment to having the absolute best website we could possibly build. The all-new site is the product of that decision, and we sincerely hope you like it.
The new SusanvilleStuff has everything we need for a community website. We built it on the same framework that is used for major news sites, from CNN.com to the New York Times. We have set up new features that will be rolling out each month. We have the technology, we can build it.
What does this mean to you our valued and loyal readers? It means that we promise to give you the very best news, photos, information and return on your ad dollar that we can. Always. We want to hear your stories, let you know what’s happening and yes, share in tragedies when they happen. This is our favorite town in the world, and we are thankful everyday to live here.
Along with the numerous changes you will find at the new SusanvilleStuff we are also very pleased to welcome Jennifer Petersen into the family as our Sales Manager.
Jennifer is perfect for our enterprise because she has spent decades helping local businesses market themselves, and she also understands the technology and how it all works.
Jennifer is always there to help you with questions and she is a very nice person. She’ll take care of you and make sure you are getting the best benefit for your ad dollar.
Really what it comes down to for us on a personal level is that we live in a very unique and wonderful town. We want to show the world how great this area is, while at the same time making sure our readers have access to the information they need on a daily basis. It’s that simple. And we look forward to being the place you stop first each day when you visit the internet.
