Preschool children and their parents are invited to Sierra Cascade Family Opportunities’ Preschool Round Up and Open House at your closest SCFO Head Start or State Preschool Center. There are centers in Alturas, Susanville, Chester, Greenville, Quincy and Portola.
Students and their parents can tour classrooms and apply for free preschool services at the Open House and Preschool Roundup, which will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 on April 25th.
Children must be age three on or before September 1st, 2025 if applying for Head Start, or age 2 on or before August 25th, 2025 if applying for State Preschool.
Children are not required to be potty trained.
The following documents are required for a complete application. All documents do not need to be brought in order to attend and tour the Open House.
- Proof of family size: Birth certificates for all children living in home under 18 years old, or foster placement documentation, if applicable.
- Up-to-date immunization records
- Proof of address: Utility bill, phone bill, bank statements, rental agreement, etc.
- Proof of ALL income
- For Head Start: 1 month worth of recent check stubs, most recent W2 or 1040 tax forms, unemployment, social security, TANF/Cash Aid, CalFresh, etc.
- For State Preschool: documents will not be gathered until May or June to ensure it falls within state required eligibility document timelines for the 25-26 program year.
