One driver was killed, and one driver suffered moderate injuries Wednesday morning when two big rigs collided head-on north of County Road A25 on Highway 395.
According to details provided by the Susanville office of the California Highway Patrol, 45-year old Fallen, Nevada resident Moren Dahl, was driving a 2014 Peterbilt Semi, pulling a flatbed trailer, northbound on the highway, about five miles north of County Road A25.
“Mr. Dahl slowed his truck to make a right turn into a ranch that adjoins US 395,” explains Susanville CHP Public Information Officer Bruce Thuelchassaigne. “For reasons under investigation, the driver of a 2012 Mack Semi pulling a Chip trailer, which was also traveling northbound on US395, failed to slow for the truck in front of him.”
The Mack Semi struck the trailer of the Peterbilt Semi and, as a result of the collision, the driver of the Mack truck, only identified by the CHP as a 32-year old Lassen County resident, sustained fatal injuries. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The driver of the Peterbilt Semi was transported by SEMSA ambulance to Banner Lassen Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
“US 395 was impacted for several hours while rescue and cleanup crews worked at the scene. We share our sincerest condolences with the family and friends of the deceased party. This crash is currently under investigation.”
