At around 5:20p.m., on December 18th, the Susanville Fire Department along with automatic aid from Cal-Fire and Susan River Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire at 2202 Second Street.
“Engine 621 from the Susanville Fire Department arrived on scene,” explains department Engineer Kalvn McFarland, “and found an extinguished fire in the bathroom.”
Firefighters found superficial burn marks to the bathroom wall and blistered paint on the ceiling.
According to McFarland the firefighters searched for extension in the walls and found the fire to be contained to the room of origin and that it was caused by combustible materials stored too closely to a heat source.
There were three fire engines, 8 firefighters, and 1 chief officer that responded to this incident with no reported firefighter or civilian injuries.
The Susanville Fire Department was assisted by Cal-Fire and the Susanville Police Department.
