
The ultra-talented J and J Competitive Dance team traveled to their final competition of the season in Sacramento last week, shining as they took on thousands of top dancers from premiere studios across northern California.
Three J and J dancers were crowned Dancer of the Year. Kaycee Freitas was named Petite Dancer of the Year, Mary Weekley was honored as Senior Dancer of the Year and Kissy Baesman took the crown as Elite Senior Dancer of the Year.
In the novice division, according to J and J Studio owner Jessica Wade, soloist Kylee Tancreto was awarded 5th overall out of 12 solos. Kyannah Johnson and Mary Weekley received 3rd overall out of nine competing duets and trios.
Junior Hip Hop, Comin’ in Hot, was awarded 3rd overall out of 17 teams.
In the advanced division, Kate Neuenschwander took home 6th overall, out of 51 soloists, for her solo “Darkside.”
A duet “I’m Not a Mountain” performed by Lenna Wade and Zoey Nicholson took home 6th out of 17 competitors.
A trio “Major Tom” brought home 7th out of 21 competitors.
Teen hip hop Queen Type took 5th overall out of 19 teams.
J and J also took home Double Platinums for highest score and the advanced teen/senior team took home a sweep of Double Platinums for the weekend, winning several Judges Awards, scholarships and top 10 overalls along the way.
Big Show at the Veterans Hall This Sunday
You can see the J and J Competitive Team in action Sunday, May 19th, at their big Dance Show in the Susanville Veterans Memorial Hall. The team will be showcasing all of their performances from the Rainbow Competition.
The show starts at 6:00p.m. and admission is only $5 and tickets will be available at the door.
