The National Weather Service office in Reno is warning Lassen County residents to expect high winds on Saturday, especially along the Highway 395 corridor between Susanville and Reno.
A high wind watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening…
Winds will increase on Saturday morning with the strongest gusts expected late Saturday morning through Saturday evening. Winds will gradually taper off Saturday night.
The weather service is predicting southwest winds at 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. In the high Sierra ridge gusts are expected to top out at 110 mph.
These strong cross winds will create dangerous driving conditions for high profile vehicles. Visibility reductions are possible due to areas of blowing dust. Choppy conditions are likely on all area lakes.
A high wind watch means there is potential for strong damaging winds to affect the area. You can monitor the latest forecasts at weather.Gov/Reno.
