Position Description:
Camp Eagle Lake Cabin Counselor
General Responsibility:
Ability to provide care, leadership, and guidance to your cabin group (4-5 campers) at daily activities. These activities include programs, campfire, and mealtimes.
Dates:
Training Saturday July 27th at 12pm
Session 1- July 28- August 3rd 2024
Stipend: $640
Qualifications
Be 18 years or older.
Desire to work with Campers with developmental, physical, and emotional
disabilities.
An interest in building a strong and supportive community
Ability to relate to one’s peers and campers.
Emotionally maturity
Flexibility with ability to grow and learn
Positive communication skills
Desire to learn and develop new skills
Be in good health, vitality, and physical stamina.
Specific Responsibilities:
Live in a cabin with Campers. (1 to 4 ratio).
Responsible for the daily leadership and guidance of your cabin Campers. This
includes special attention to personal hygiene, safety, Camper participation in
activities, and mealtime behavior.
Assume responsibility for interpreting the camp rules, policies, and traditions
to the Camper.
Serve as a good example with your language, appearance, and health habits.
Assume responsibility for the health and welfare of Campers entrusted to your
care.
All other duties and assignments deemed appropriate by the Camp Director
and Program Director.
Essential Responsibilities
Be physically able to accompany the Campers to all Camp activities.
Be able to physically lift, pivot and transfer Campers with assistance.
Be able to communicate verbally with campers and provide instructions.
Have visual ability to recognize hazards in the Camp setting as well as physical
symptoms of Camper injury and/or illness.
Have auditory ability to respond appropriately to hazards and/or any Camper
concerns.
Be able to observe daily Camper behavior, respond verbally to health and
safety concerns and deal appropriately with any improper behavior.
End Results
Achieve the goals and objectives of Camp, in the lives of Campers and in your
own personal life, by operating a creative, safe, and fun program.
Ensure that Campers acquire a sincere appreciation of Camp achieving an
increased sense of self-esteem related to their own creativity.
Make a positive effect on the life of each Camper and strive to provide each
Camper with a fun and rewarding Camp experience.
