The Lassen Claybreakers, a gun club representing youth from Junior High and High Schools across Lassen County, are kicking off a new season of competition and the team says they are excited about the upcoming year. Part of that excitement comes from brand new uniforms made possible by a donation from High Desert State Prison.
“Donations like this one from HDSP ease the burden on our families for our sport,” explains Claybreakers spokesperson Jenny Robinson.
“Our team was lucky enough to receive a donation from High Desert State Prison, which afforded us the opportunity to update our uniforms and provide our kids with a new look, which is sharp and on fire!”
Robinson thanked LASCO for designing and printing the shirts and hats.
According to Robinson this is the first year that the team has had people reach out and sponsor the entry fees for the competitions.
“Huge thanks to CCPOA High Desert Chapter for sponsoring our Carson City shoot on Saturday. Huge thanks to Sierra Sportsman Club – Rice Canyon Range and Jack Quinlan for sponsoring the entey fees two more upcoming shoots. We are truly grateful for any and all donations we have received so far this year!”
Donations to the program help cut the costs that families accrue during the year.
“Also,” she adds, “a huge thank you to our community for helping sponsor the individual team members with their decal fundraiser.”
The Claybreakers’ 10th Anniversary Competition Trapshoot will be held at the Sierra Sportsman Club – Rice Canyon Range on May 10th, at 9:00a.m. The day will be filled with multiple trapshooting teams competing, Annie Oakley shoots, 50/50 drawing, opportunity drawings for prizes, BBQ lunch available for purchase and more.
