Lassen County 4H Ambassador’s Corner – 4H News from Around the County

2020-2021 4H County Ambassador

Summer is such a fun and busy time! 4-H members are getting ready for the Lassen County Fair. Members are working to show their animals and others are entering still exhibits like arts and crafts, baked goods, and table settings among many others.

Members will be selling tickets for the 4-H Fair Barbecue. The Barbecue is an annual fundraiser for 4-H and will be on Tuesday, July20th. Please come and enjoy a delicious tri-tip or chicken dinner with potato, salad, dinner roll, and dessert. Presale tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children age 11 and under.

If you choose to buy tickets at the gate tickets will be $16 for adults, and $11 for children. You can get your tickets from a member or at the fair office. As an added bonus, if you buy barbecue tickets, you can take them to the fair office and get $5 off of a ticket to the rodeo.

4-H would like to thank those who have sponsored the program this year. Over the last few months members have asked family, friends and businesses to support Lassen County 4-H. In return we gave them a decal and are honoring them in the 4-H Roundup Newsletter, a banner at fair, and here in this article.

We received additional sponsors since the last article and want to thank them for their support: Sacred Heart Ranch, Salome Shaw, Vicki Batchelor, Pamela & Ian Lee, Sandy Fortin, the Rudd Family, the Morello Family, John & Julie Mallery, Fred Somerville, Elain Somerville, Diamond Saw Shop, Dorothy Salem, Chris & Loel Griffith, Chuck & Laura Byers, Smitty’s Smitten Bullmastiffs, Robert & Michelle Godman, Daisy Hoen, Kim Courtin, Jessica Jones, Helen May, the Perkins Family, Regina Randall, Jackson’s Service Center, Lake Forest Fire Protection District, and the California Correctional Peace Officers Association –CCC Chapter.

Every year, 4-H offers a scholarship to the members who are graduating. This year the scholarship winner is Ronnie Merrill. She won $500 from Lassen County 4-H and $2,500 from the Milano scholarship. Ronnie plans to become a physician assistant and will be taking her certified nursing assistant state test. In the fall, Ronnie will be attending Boise State University to obtain a Bachelor’s in Biology, and then receiving her physician assistant certification. Congratulations Ronnie!
