Lassen County 4H Ambassadors’ Corner

by Lily Ammon and Maddi Johnson

Hello everyone! We have had such a great year serving Lassen County as the 4-H Ambassadors and just want to take a quick look back at our year. Our Ambassador project was to plan a series of three family fun game nights that involved not only local 4-H members but the entire community! This was such a huge success!

For our New Year’s Bingo we had 92 people attend and a total of 150+ cans of food items donated to the food lockers. At Sweetheart Bingo we had 160 people attend with $1,670.00 donated to the Blue Star Moms. At Forever 4-H Bingo we had 150 people attend with $1,363.00 raised for Lassen County 4-H.

Without our fantastic community, all of the businesses who donated gift basket items and 4-H Clubs that donated prize items this project would not have been so successful. We would like to recognize Kaitlyn Midgley and the staff of the Lassen County Fair for allowing us the use of Jensen Hall for all three events. Thank you all so very much!

As the school year comes to an end the 4-H members across Lassen County will be working with their animals and projects for the Lassen County Fair. Don’t forget to purchase tickets for the annual 4-H BBQ, Tuesday July 18th, from any 4-H member. The tickets are $15 and the meal this year will be tri tip, salad, a roll and dessert. We hope that you can find it in your heart to come by during fair week and see just how much talent our local 4-Her’s have and all of the cute animals we bring.

If you or a family member would like to know more about the Lassen County 4-H Program please join us at our 4-H Open House on August 22nd from 5-6pm in the Tractor Supply parking lot here in Susanville. Richmond, Johnstonville, Lake, Standish, Thompson Peak, Milford, South County and Dyer Mountain 4-H will all be represented and have information to share about what their clubs offer.

Applications for Ambassadors are currently open for next year – if you want to learn more please contact Darcy Hansen at the Lassen County 4-H Office (530) 251-8285.

We have enjoyed informing all of the readers here at SusanvilleStuff about the 4-H Program this past year. Thank you to Marshel, Jeremy and the rest of the team for their continued support. To our Moms, Liz Ammon and Nickie Dilts, thank you for all that you do for us and the youth of Lassen County.

Signing off, for the last time, the 2022/2023 Lassen County 4-H Ambassador Team – Lily Ammon & Maddi Johnson!
