The Lassen County Animal Shelter is seeking donations from the public this week to aid in caring for Dixie Fire animal evacuees. Items needed most are:
– Cedar and Pine Bedding
– Chicken scratch, protein pellets, layer feed (crumble)
– Duck feed
– Dry cat food (anything without red dye would be best. Staff has found it upsets cat tummies)
– Guinea pig food, Timothy hay, chew toys
– Bleach
Monetary donations are always appreciated and can be made by stopping by the shelter at 472-000 Johnsonville Rd, next to the Susanville Airport. Or checks can be mailed to 707 Nevada St. Suite 4. To ensure your donation goes directly to animal shelter needs, make checks payable to: LCAS Trust Fund.

Featured animals at the Lassen County Animal Shelter are available for adoption on a first-come-first-serve basis. According to California law, all adoptable dogs and cats must be spayed and neutered before leaving our facility. If interested in adopting an animal, please contact the shelter directly.
Current shelter hours during the COVID-19 pandemic are Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday. You can contact the shelter at 257-9200.
