Tuesday, June 20
Lassen County Arts Council Summer Art Program. Pottery Rabbit Rattle #1 with Deb Anderson. Students will hop into the summer workshops series with a lesson on molding clay. Students will mold their chunk of pottery clay into a creation all of their own such as a rabbit, dog or even a cat. Students may return on Tuesday, June 27th to find their creations fired and ready for them to paint and decorate.

Lassen Lit Rocks holds free adult reading classes every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Tuesday’s classes are held at the Lassen Library and Thursday’s classes are held at Shaffer School. For more information please call the library at 530-257-7471.

Lassen Family Services Parenting Group 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Lassen Family Services, 1306 Riverside Dr. Parenting Group classes are designed to help reduce chaos and power struggles within families. Lassen College and Kinship Education Free Workshop: Mental Health Awareness Presented By Aurora Network. A panel from the Aurora Network will share their insight into Mental Health Awareness and partnership. This workshop is open to all Community members! This workshop will be from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Lassen College in the Creative Arts building room 209. Blue Grass Festival “Free Locals Night”. Enjoy Bluegrass and BBQ on the lawn at the Fairgrounds from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Admission is free and dinner is $12.00, which includes one free beverage. Tickets are on sale now at the Fair office.

Knights of Columbus Wednesday Night Bingo. 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., dinner, 6:30 pm early bird bingo, 7:00 p.m., regular bingo games. Lassen County Arts Council Summer Art Program. Tape Resist with Denise Larimer. Students will be introduced to the art of Tape resist with a guided experience on how to create geometrical shapes that result in a creation of colorful shapes. Students will be working with acrylic paint on canvas boards with the tape being the resist. Resist techniques in the art use the incompatibility of two mediums to create layered effects with color and texture.

8th annual Susanville Bluegrass Festival. Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon Presents: Timeless. In celebration of Main Street Cruise, we’ll be holding a saloon dance at the Pioneer. Wear your 50s costume, dance the night away with Timeless and then head over to the Sierra Movie theater for a free midnight showing of American Graffiti! 8:00 – 11:00 p.m.

25th Anniversary Main Cruise 2017. The two-day celebration will be packed with exciting events including classic cars and cocktail chamber mixer, Soap Box Derby, Slow Drag, and Motorcycle & Car Show n’ Shine.  There will be crafts, food, music, and cars. You won’t want to miss it. Friday night’s events will be in Historic Uptown Susanville. From 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., enjoy Classic Cars & Cocktails Chamber Mixer, Live Music & Street Dance, All – American Soap Box Derby Inspections & Fun Runs, Motorcycle Show n’ Shine, Slow Drag races, and Contests:  Bubble Gum, Hula Hoop, Limbo and 50/60/70’s Dress. From 8:45 to 11:45 pm, Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer Saloon Dance and at Midnight enjoy a free Showing of ‘American Graffiti’ at Sierra Theatre.

From 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Poker Run Luncheon & Awards Diamond Mountain Casino & Hotel, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Memorial Park it’s the 25th Anniversary Classic Car Show ~n~ Shine, Drink/Food & Vendors, Corn Hole Toss Competition and Live Music Featuring ‘Forgery’, and the Lassen Co. Arts Council ‘Cork & Canvas’. At 6:30 p.m., at Memorial Park it’s the Car Show & Derby Race Awards and at 7:00 p.m., it’s a live DJ at the Diamond Mountain Casino & Hotel.

A few Brews and a Banjo at the Chester Park from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. A Few Brews & A Banjo has been helping to raise funds for school programs since 2004. Spend a perfect afternoon in a scenic park alongside the North Fork of the Feather River, sip on a tasty micro-brewed beer, including Lassen Ale Works, and enjoy some music. Music and beer samplings take place from 2pm to 6pm. $25 presale discount beer tasting tickets are available in Chester at Plumas Bank in Chester and Books & Beyond until Friday, July 10th. At the gate ticket price will be $30.

Volunteers welcome at Bald Mountain trail improvement project day. Volunteers are welcome to help the Bureau of Land Management improve single-track trails in the Bald Mountain Trail Network east of Susanville, in a project day set for Saturday, June 24th. Volunteers will clear rocks and smooth out ruts and small gullies caused by winter storms. Anyone interested should meet at 8:00 a.m. at the fire station near the junction of Lassen County Road A-3 and Sunnyside Road north of Janesville. Those who arrive late can follow signs to the trailhead and hike to meet the work parties. Monday – Thursday, June 26-29
Youth Summer Camps at Lassen Community College. The college’s athletic department is offering a variety of different fun-filled options for kids to be a part of. Children may be pre-enrolled or enrolled the first day of the camp. Basketball Camp: Camp Grizz Camp Cougar. Time: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Ages: 2nd – 7th Grade 7th – 12th Grade. 7th Graders can attend either camp based on ability. Cost: $50/per player $75/per player. Location: LCC Gymnasium.
