The Lassen County Chamber of Commerce’s 15th annual Spring Show is Saturday, April 29th from 10:00 – 3:00p.m., at Lassen County Fairgrounds. They are looking for Home, Garden, or Recreation Vendors. Join the fun with Bottle & Brush Art Bar to play trivia. Regular Trivia Nights are the second and fourth Tuesdays every month. The game starts at 6:30p.m. The entry fee is $5 cash per player, and the team size is limited to four people. Sign up today for the Bottle & Brush Art Bar Wine Tasting Club and join them for their next event on Tuesday, April 18th. Lassen Family Services is partnering with All-American Mixed Martial Arts Academy to host a beginner’s self-defense class on Saturday, April 29th from 2:00 – 4:00p.m., at 55 South Sacramento Street, Susanville. During this event, learn basic moves in order to defend yourself from an attacker. In times of danger, it’s important to have the proper skills to protect yourself. This is also a perfect opportunity for those that have always wanted to learn the skills but don’t know where to start or are nervous about the environment. Lassen County Arts Council presents a Lassen High School art show featuring young artists from Lassen County. The reception will be held Friday, April 28th from 3:00 – 8:00p.m. Refreshments will be served. Join the Art’s Council on Saturday, April 29th from 10:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., for an author event with Lynne Sella. Lynne Sella is the author of the Deputy Sarah Murdock series, which is about the many misadventures of a female deputy as she patrols the secluded community of Surprise Valley located in northeastern California. Current titles include Grave Robber, Snake Charmer, Horse Wrangler, and her new novel, Gold Digger. Her new book as well as previous titles will be available for purchase. Lassen County Sheriff’s Posse will be hosting the annual Junior Fun Day, on April 30th, at the Lassen County Fair Rodeo Grounds. Registration opens at 9:00a.m. and the event starts at 10:00a.m. Proceeds go towards scholarships that help their youth succeed. The ages of events range from one year old to eighteen years old. Invite a friend and come have a fun-filled day.

Lassen Land & Trails Trust presents Living with Bears on Thursday, May 4th at 7:00p.m., Susanville Railroad Depot, 601 Richmond Rd. Learn about bear biology, policy, and management, and Solutions to dealing with nuisance wildlife.

Soroptimist presents Margarita Fest on Friday, May 5th from 6:00 – 10:00p.m., at Jensen Hall. Pick up tickets at Margie’s Book Nook or The Chamber of Commerce. Presale tickets are only available until Thursday, May 4th, 2023. Deck of cards Raffle, featuring live music by Timeless, Salsa contest and make your own nachos at the nacho bar. Mark your calendars for Lassen Land & Trails Trust’s 4th annual Lassen County Homebrew Festival at the historic Railroad Depot on May 6th from 5:00 – 7:00p.m. Tickets are available online or at the door pre-sale tickets online: lassenlandandtrailstrust.org. This two-hour open tasting allows you to sample the best brews in Lassen County and supports the Lassen Land & Trails Trust to conserve trails and working landscapes in our community. Calling All Vendors. Lassen County Fairground Spring Craft Fair will be held on Friday, May 12th from 4:00 – 8:00p.m., and Saturday, May 13th from 9:00 – 2:00p.m. $55 for a 10×10 space. Applications can be found on their website lassencountyfair.org or stop by the fair office. Applications are due by Monday, May 8th.

Hey, there Lassen Community College fam. Are you ready for the Prom event of the year? Join Lassen Community College on May 12th at 9:00p.m., in the Cougar Cafe for an unforgettable night presented by ASB. This year’s theme is “Glow Up” and they want to see you shine. So, wear your best glowing outfit and let’s light up the night. Admission is free, and they are serving up some mouth-watering tacos and refreshing beverages catered by Cha-Chas! And, to keep the party going all night long, DJ Mike Malone will be dropping some sick beats. Don’t miss out on this amazing event and the chance to create memories that will last a lifetime. Join Lassen Library at their final Family Literacy of the 2022-2023 year. Join them for an afternoon at Memorial Park on Saturday, May 13th at 10:00a.m., for a pizza party. There will be Storytime, outdoor activities, and free books for all enrolled families. They’ll be wrapping up the year by discussing and celebrating differences and diversity. Come join Lassen County 4-H Ambassadors Lily Ammon and Maddi Johnson on May 15th, for their final Family Fun Night in Jensen Hall at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. More than 160 people showed up for the last Bingo Night, raising funds for the Blue Star Moms and the final event is set to benefit the Lassen County 4-H Program. The cost is $5 per book, 5 rounds per book and there is no book limit. Only 200 players will be allowed to participate. The event will start at 6:00p.m.

One of Susanville’s best-loved traditions, the annual Lassen Sportsmens Club Junior Fishing Derby is scheduled to be held on May 20th. Kids aged 2 to 15 are invited to come enjoy a beautiful morning of fishing. The busy morning starts at 5:00 with free registration and check-in at the park. Don’t forget to dress warmly because mornings are still chilly along the river this time of year. Registration and check-in end at 9:00a.m. Derby prizes will be awarded after the 3:00p.m. close of the event, and winners don’t need to be present to win. Kids shooting for the ‘largest fish’ prizes should be off the river by 2:45p.m. and must be in line for weigh-in by 3:00p.m to qualify. Door prizes will be drawn at the same time and these winners must be present. The first three-hundred young anglers to register will receive a souvenir derby hat courtesy of Guess Plumbing. From 5:30 to 8:30a.m. free breakfast for all kids, sponsored by WalMart and the employees of WalMart. From 10:30 to 1:00p.m., free lunch will be provided for all kids, sponsored by Frosty Mill; Susanville Supermarket; Alpine Beverage; Grocery Outlet; Burger King; Diamond Mountain Mini-Mart. Save the date for this year’s CASA Gala. Saturday, May 20th, at 5:30p.m., Located at Lassen Senior Services 1700 Sunkist Dr, Susanville, CA 96130. Join them for a fundraiser dinner and silent auction to benefit the children of Lassen County in the CASA Program. Ridin’ High at the Ranch registration is open. The Susanville Area Bicycle Association’s annual cross-country mountain bike race is back for its 11th year on Saturday, May 27th. This race is part of the California Dirt Series and the USA Cycling Regional MTB Championship. Not racing for points? It doesn’t matter! Come race this fun course that has a little bit for everyone.
