Lassen County Chamber of Commerce Update for October 2nd

Lassen County Chamber of Commerce presents their Annual Gala on Saturday, October 7th at the Veterans Memorial Hall from 6:00 to 10:00p.m. The chamber is excited to announce that the Gala Committee has been hard at work putting together an event to remember.

The Gala is a catered event at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall across from the high school. Please join them in celebrating the local business community with a magical night, with live music, good food, drinks, silent auction, friends, and fun. The chamber will be honoring the wonderful chamber members, with special recognition for the Chamber of Commerce, Business of the Year, and the Lassen County Volunteer of the Year.

So put on your best duds, (you know, your pressed Wranglers and button-down shirt), and get ready for the event of the year. It’s back. The Second Annual Lassen County Holiday with A Hero Ugly Christmas Sweater Golf Tournament. Saturday, October 7th, Tee Off at 8:30a.m. It will fill up/sell out register today. This year we are also offering prizes for best cart decorations for those that provide their own cart. It will be a party for such a great cause.

Lassen Land and Trails Trust presents Rails to Trails Festival, Saturday, October 7th from 10:00 to 3:00p.m., at The Depot (601 Richmond Rd., Susanville). Handcar races, farmers market, vendors, kids’ activities, local beer, great food, caboose tours, music, and raffles.

Bizz Johnson Marathon will be Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th. Set PRs and qualify for the Boston Marathon on this fast, downhill course on the scenic Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail. For more information and to register visit, Bizz Johnson bizzrunningcompany.com

Join Back Country Boutique at the Freaky Friday Midtown Bash on Friday, October 13th from 4:00 to 7:00p.m., at 2055a Main Street, Susanville. Celebrate with the wonderful businesses in Susanville’s midtown area. The Back Country Boutique is celebrating their one-year anniversary and will be cooking up some Back Country Grub. This year marks the 10-year anniversary for Lassen Family Services Dancing For A Brand New Me. Join LFS for a journey down memory lane as they invited previous dancers back for a night of fun, laughter, delicious snacks, and live entertainment for all ages. Every Bloomin Thing presents Homefront Herbalist Fermentation Fun. Friday October 27th at 5:30p.m. at Every Bloomin Thing. Come and spend the evening with Kristie of Homefront Herbalist (formerly Kristie’s Kitchen) learning why it’s so important to incorporate fermented foods into our everyday diet. Can anyone say healthy gut microbiome? In this class you will learn about the process of fermentation, the benefits of eating fermented foods, taste some delicious samples, and learn about the versatility of fermenting from veggies, fruit, to dairy and more. This class will offer a hands-on activity learning how to create your very own ferment from beginning to end to take home and enjoy.

Lassen County Chamber of Commerce presents Safe and Sane 2023, Tuesday, October 31st from 3:30pm – 5:30pm. Businesses are to provide their own table, anything they would like to include in their booth space (decorations, etc..), and roughly around 2000+ pieces of candy to distribute. Join Every Bloomin’ Thing Garden Center and Gift Shop for their Annual Harvest Open House. Saturday, November 4th from 9:00 to 5:00p.m., at Every Bloomin’ Thing (705 US Hwy 395 E, Susanville). They will be hosting delicious gourmet goodies and libations during the Celebration of the Harvest Season. The nursery will be having our fall planting sale with all plants up to 60% off. They have invited local artisans to join in the Garden Room as well. It’s always a wonderful day to visit with friends and prepare for the upcoming holidays.

Susanville Best of Broadway presents 2024 concert series The Broadway Renaissance Auditions. Saturday, October 28th, from 10:00 to 2:00p.m., and Sunday, November 5th, 12:00 to 4:00p.m., at the Susanville Veteran’s Memorial Hall. Lassen Library Family Literacy Day, Saturday October 14th at 11:00am. Lassen Youth Soccer presents KICK or Treat Halloween Soccer Tournament on Saturday, October 14th. U6-U19, $5 per player. VFW, Veterans of Foreign Wars William Davidson Post 2381 presents Saturday Breakfast. April Through December from 0800 hours to 1100 hours at the Veterans Memorial Hall. VFW Post 2381 will be serving breakfast on the 1st Saturday of each month. Breakfast is open to the public. Breakfast will be held downstairs in the Veterans Memorial Building in Susanville.

In our community, Lassen College presents a unique opportunity to engage in various enriching discussions with their free lunchtime lecture series. The series takes place every Tuesday from 11:30 to 12:30p.m., at the Lassen Library District conference room on Main Street. These weekly, hour-long sessions delve into diverse topics ranging from practical skills such as writing effective professional emails and starting a small business, to crowd-pleaser topics including beekeeping and the mysterious world of spiders. They even cover critical issues like managing financial worries and cyber-awareness skills for the whole family. For a special treat, they also offer beginner and intermediate classes in AI with ChatGPT. All are invited to join these free, educational events. Join the fun with Bottle & Brush Art Bar for their New Summer Schedule for Trivia Night. They’re moving to once-a-month schedule for Trivia Night for the next few months, starting in May.
