The Annual Veteran Day Parade will be held on Wednesday, November 11, beginning at 11am. If your organization or business would like to participate in this year’s parade show up at the Armory Building a least as half hour prior to the parade start time to be included in the line-up.
The Chamber board will meet on Thursday, November 12th for the monthly board meeting, beginning at noon, at Diamond Mountain Casino in the Hotel Conference Room. The board encourages member attendance and comment; if you would like to address the board please contact the office staff prior to the board meeting so that you can be added to the agenda.
The Chamber board is accepting applications to fill three expired board terms; the 3 year terms will begin in January 2016. Chamber members who are interested in helping to promote the business community and Lassen County by serving on the board are encouraged to apply. Stop by the Chamber office for an application or contact the chamber staff, at 257-4323, for more information or to have an application forwarded to you. Applications must be returned by Monday, December 7th.
The Christmas Committee is busy preparing for the 10th Annual Magical Country Christmas Celebration that will be held Saturday, December 5th, from 5-7pm, in Historic Uptown Susanville. The celebration will feature entertainment under the direction of the Susanville Best of Broadway, Christmas parade, food, Toys for Tots drive, and fireworks to ring in the Christmas season. Main Street will be closed to thru traffic during the celebration. This is a fun filled event for the whole family. Christmas Parade entry forms are available at the Chamber office or by logging on to lassencountychamber.org.
There have been changes to labor laws that will take effect for the coming year. The Chamber will be ordering 2016 Labor Law posters which feature the required federal and state notices on one poster. They will be available to Chamber members for $30.00 or/ non-member for $40.00 per poster. California businesses are required to post updated employment posters at each place of business. Pre-orders are now being taken; contact the Chamber office at 257-4323 if you would like to have a poster ordered for your business.
