The Lassen County Fair has announced that this year’s Friday night grandstand show will feature country legend John Michael Montgomery, a performer with a string of hit country records, a roomful of awards and, most importantly, a reputation for putting on one heck of a show!
Montgomery has sold some 16 million albums, accrued 15 number one singles, earned two Grammy nominations and garnered a host of songwriting awards since releasing his first single in 1992. His hits include country chart powerhouses like Be My Baby Tonight, Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident) and 2004’s Letter from Home.
His latest album is called Time Flies and features the single All in a Day, the song that contains the lyric that gave the album its name.
“That song talks about how time flies,” he says, “and I got to thinking that it seems like yesterday that ‘Life’s A Dance’ was out and people were asking me, ‘Where would you like to be in 10 or 15 years?’ ‘Still here!’ was my answer and, thankfully, I am still here. Longevity was more important to me than anything else, and to still be able to do something I love so much is wonderful. Still, it’s gone by so quickly that I thought, ‘I’m going to build an album around that.’ That’s where the shape of this album comes from.”
The Friday evening grandstand show is part of the five-day Lassen County Fair which runs from July 15th to July 19th in Susanville.
Tickets for John Michael Montgomery at the Lassen County Fair will go on sale next week.
