Lassen National Forest Salvage Harvest Operations Underway in the Whaleback Fire Area

The Eagle Lake Ranger District on the Lassen National Forest has announced that it will start conducting harvest operations on both the Orca and Humpback Fire Salvage Reoffers this week.

The logging will take approximately two months, or as long weather conditions permits.

The location of the Sale Area is on both sides of County Road A1 northwest of Eagle Lake.

There will be heavy equipment working in the area, including log truck traffic. This may result in a chance of more substantial than usual traffic along the lake on County Road A1 to Susanville.

“We are informing the public of this information so that they have time to schedule their travel plans,” said Deb Bumpus, Forest Supervisor.

“We value our relationship with the public and giving this notice of the project’s possible effect on local traffic will enable them to plan their travel accordingly.”
