The Lassen County Office of Education is calling on all students, staff, and the community to celebrate Red Ribbon Week from October 23rd to October 31st! This year’s theme, “Life is Your Journey – Travel Tobacco and Drug Free,” encourages healthy habits and a brighter future for everyone.
Red Ribbon Week honors the memory of Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. His unwavering dedication to fighting drug trafficking continues to inspire others to live a drug-free life. The LCOE’s Tobacco Use Prevention Education Program is committed to carrying on this legacy.
Get ready for a week of fun and awareness! Throughout Red Ribbon Week, participating schools will be hosting a series of themed dress-up days:
Crazy Sock Day (October 23rd): Let your feet do the talking! Show off your craziest, wackiest socks.
Outrageous Hair Day (October 24th): Spike it, braid it, or dye it! Unleash your inner hairstylist.
Wear Red Out (October 25th): Show your commitment to a healthy lifestyle by dressing head-to-toe in red.
Back to the 60s and 70s (October 28th): Dust off your peace signs and bell bottoms for a groovy throwback!
Team Up with Others (October 30th): Sport your favorite team gear and celebrate teamwork against drugs and tobacco.
Drug Free, I Can Be Anything (October 31st): Dress up as anything you dream of being – as long as it’s drug-free!
LCOE encourages everyone to “Kick It” and commit to a tobacco-free life. Resources for those struggling to quit smoking or vaping are available by texting “quit smoking” or “quit vaping” to 66819.
Educators can find valuable lesson plans and support materials on the LCOE website (lcoe.org) to integrate drug and tobacco-free education into their classrooms during Red Ribbon Week.
Make sure your voice is heard! Share your Red Ribbon Week activities and commitment on social media. Tag @lcoe and use the hashtags #LCOE and #RedRibbonWeek to be featured.
