Susanville Gets Radio Station
April 13, 1948

Cmdr. A. W. Scott, noted world traveler and lecturer, will be on hand to participate in the official opening of radio station KSUH in Susanville, on Sunday, April 25. The public relations official of Greyhound Lines will devote his familiar radio program “Romance of the Highways” to a description of the Lassen country, and will broadcast over the Susanville station at 10:15 a.m. In the afternoon Cmdr. Scott will be master of ceremonies for the dedicatory programs between 1 and 3 p.m.

Community leaders and representatives of various civic groups from Susanville, Westwood, Herlong and other points in the high Sierra region to be served by KSUH will participate in the Sunday afternoon programs.

KSUH will broadcast on 1240 kilocycles, operating from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.

The new radio station is owned and operated by Nolan Hallowell and James E. Mckahan, Susanville businessmen. Personnel consists of William Murphy, manager; Edward Burwell, commercial manager; Hal Houston, chief engineer; Bill Clayton and Jay Stewart, announcers; and Maile Grundy, Receptionist.
