70 Gallons of Liquor in Insane Cell of Jail at Susanville Missing
April 23, 1924
More than 70 gallons of moonshine liquor stored in 10 barrels in the insane cell of the county jail are missing.
Loss of the liquor was reported to the county grand jury in session yesterday. It is believed that the wet goods were stolen from jail sometime Friday night.
No clue has been found to ascertain the identity of the hi-jackers.
The moonshine was confiscated three weeks ago from Ted Lewis, local soft drink establishment proprietor. It was reported that the shipment came from Reno.
