Livestock Show Receives Funds
February 10, 1947
Abe Jensen, fair manager, announced the receipt of a check for $65,000 by the Lassen County Livestock Show from taxes on the state supervised thoroughbred racing industry.
He said the funds actually represent vastly more than $65,000 in new wealth for this area, because such money is used as prizes to inspire growing and preparing better products for display at the fair.
Money received from thoroughbred racing is also employed for capital investment to build up fairgrounds damaged by military use or neglect during war years. Such funds will be used for a five year development of fair grounds on year round public use after solution of the national housing shortage, provided continuation of the funds is assured, Mr. Jensen said.
