Lumber Chiefs Forecast Boom
February 23, 1935

Lumber mills in Susanville, Westwood and other local districts will start operation March 1st. The officials forecast a boom in the lumber industry.

The Fruit Growers Supply Company and the Lassen Lumber and Box Company have awarded contracts to the Red River Lumber Company, which will truck logs to Susanville March 1st, pending the completion of a logging railroad from the Red River holdings into Susanville.

The recent cold snap, and the accompanying snow, will delay completion of the logging road, but will not affect the beginning of the season.
