February 28, 1960

Hank Lauman, California’s Bowler of the Year, will be the star attraction tomorrow when Sierra Lanes stages its grand opening.

Lauman will give instructions in the afternoon and compete in match games against Susanville sweepstake winners Bill Lackey, Ken Moore and Rollie Emerson during the evening. Lauman’s appearance will be sponsored by the AFM Automatic Pinsetters, Inc.

Also appearing will be the top women’s team from the Pioneer Bowl in Quincy in a match against Susanville’s All-Stars.

The Town and Country Travel team, Reno will appear. Art Nish, Mike Curti and Herb Christie roll for this team.

Grand opening ceremonies will begin at 7 p.m. and exhibition bowling will start at 8.

Sierra Lanes, open one month, is already planning a six-alley and dining area expansion this summer. The structure now includes 10 lanes, a café and cocktail lounge. Gene Garayoa and Yves Arainty are co-owners.
